Disclaimers

What this site is, what it is not, and the two places where relying on it instead of an authoritative source could actually hurt you.

These pages are a good-faith starting point written for a small educational site, not legal advice. Before you publish, have someone qualified in your jurisdiction review them — particularly the liability, governing-law and student-data sections.

Laboratory safety

Nothing on this site is laboratory safety advice. It does not provide hazard data, exposure limits, incompatibility information, personal protective equipment selection, quantities, procedures, or waste disposal routes, and it must never be used in place of them. The site’s position is the opposite: that a generative tool is the wrong source for those things, and so is a website.

For any decision that affects what you physically do at a bench, use the safety data sheet for the exact substance, concentration and physical form in front of you, your institution’s laboratory manual and standard operating procedures, and your demonstrator, laboratory manager or environmental health and safety office. Waste routes and container labelling are specific to your institution and jurisdiction and cannot be answered generally.

the site operator accepts no liability for injury, loss or damage arising from laboratory work, however that work was informed.

Academic integrity

This site does not grant permission to use any tool for any assignment, and completing the test here is not a defence in an academic misconduct process. Only your institution and your instructor can say what is permitted, and their rules govern absolutely. Where anything here conflicts with your syllabus, assignment instructions, or code of conduct, follow theirs.

Reaching a “yes” result does not mean a use is permitted in your course, and no result here creates any expectation that a particular decision or outcome will follow in an academic process.

No professional advice

The content is general educational information. It is not legal, regulatory, medical, occupational-health or professional advice, and no professional relationship is created by reading it or by using the interactive test. If you need advice about a specific situation, ask someone qualified to give it.

Accuracy and availability

The site is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. Policies, institutional rules and the behaviour of AI tools all change, and content may be out of date. The last review date is shown in the footer.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the site operator is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of marks, academic standing, data, profits or opportunity, arising from use of or reliance on this site.

Advertising, affiliates and sponsorship

There are none. As of the review date shown in the footer, this site carries no advertising, no sponsored content, no affiliate or referral links, no paid placements, and no commissions of any kind. Nothing here has been paid for or provided free of charge by any company, and no tool, textbook, publisher or service mentioned has any commercial relationship with the site.

We are stating this plainly rather than publishing a generic affiliate disclosure, because disclosing a material connection that does not exist would itself be misleading. The Federal Trade Commission’s Endorsement Guides (16 CFR Part 255) require clear and conspicuous disclosure of material connections that exist between an endorser and an advertiser.

If that ever changes, this section will be replaced with a specific disclosure naming the relationship, it will appear above the relevant content rather than only here, and affiliate links will be labelled at the point of use. Any future advertising will be labelled as advertising. If you believe something on this site reads like an undisclosed endorsement, please tell us and it will be corrected.

External links

Some pages link to third-party sites, such as an instructor-supplied code of conduct. Those links are provided for convenience only. We do not control, endorse or take responsibility for third-party content, and their privacy practices are their own — read their policies, not ours.

How this site was produced

The wording, the decision logic and the code here were drafted with the assistance of an AI system and then reviewed and edited by a person. Given the subject, saying so seems like the minimum — it would be difficult to argue for disclosure on every other page and quietly skip our own. It also means everything this site says about checking AI output applies to the site itself: if you find something factually wrong, particularly in the chemistry or the citation formats, please report it.
