Accessibility
This site aims to meet WCAG 2.2 level AA. Here is what has been done, what is known to fall short, and how to tell us when something is broken.
What has been done
- Every function works with a keyboard alone, in a logical order, with a visible focus ring that meets the contrast requirement.
- A skip link, one
h1per page, and headings that descend without gaps, so a screen-reader user can navigate by structure. - Colour is never the only carrier of meaning: each answer states its verdict in words, and every option is labelled as well as coloured.
- Text contrast is at least 4.5:1, and the large verdict wording exceeds it comfortably in both light and dark schemes.
- Answers are announced to assistive technology through a live region as you move through the test.
- All motion is suppressed for anyone whose system requests reduced motion, including the smooth scrolling.
- Text reflows to a single column without horizontal scrolling down to 320 pixels, and supports 200% zoom and browser text resizing.
- Tap targets are at least 44 by 44 pixels.
- The site works with JavaScript switched off: the full test, all nine answers and every page of guidance are in the HTML.
Known gaps
- The indicator strip on the home page is decorative, and its colour transition is described in text rather than conveyed structurally.
- Long guidance pages have no in-page search, so finding one specific item means using the contents list or your browser’s own find.
- This statement has not been independently audited. It reflects testing by the author against WCAG 2.2 AA, not a third-party assessment.
Reporting a problem
Email hello@caiuseai.org with the page address and what went wrong. Accessibility problems are treated as bugs, not requests. If you cannot reach the content you need, say so and it will be sent to you in a format that works.
